  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add this dry mix to the wet mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until smooth.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting
  1. Once cool, frost the cake with your favorite frosting and add any decorations you like.
