Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups 1 & 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 0.5 cups 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • 0.25 cups 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 0.75 cups 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups 1 & 1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3-4 medium bananas)
Add-ins
  • 1 cup 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving some paper hanging over the sides for easy removal.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, vegetable oil, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Add the mashed bananas to the wet ingredients and mix until everything is well mixed.
  5. Gently stir in the dry ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix the batter.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  2. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. If the top is browning too quickly, cover it loosely with foil and continue baking.
  3. Let the bread cool in the pan until slightly warm or cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For the best flavor and sweetness, use very ripe bananas. Avoid overmixing the batter for a lighter loaf. You can add nuts like walnuts or pecans for added crunch if desired. For extra chocolatey goodness, sprinkle some chocolate chips on top before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days or freeze for longer storage.
