Ingredients
  

Spices
  • 5 pods cardamom pods
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 whole star anise
  • 6 whole peppercorns
  • 1/2 stick cinnamon stick
Liquid Ingredients
  • 50 ml water
  • 200 ml milk Use any milk type like almond or oat for variations.
Tea
  • 1 tablespoon black tea Loose leaf black tea can be substituted with a tea bag.
Sweetener
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Crush the cardamom pods, cloves, star anise, and peppercorns using a mortar and pestle.
  2. Heat a saucepan and add the crushed spices along with the cinnamon stick. Roast for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
Brewing the Tea
  1. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil.
  2. Turn off heat and add the black tea. Let steep for at least 5 minutes without boiling.
  3. Remove the spices and add the milk.
Final Steps
  1. Heat the chai latte again or use a milk frother.
  2. Stir in the brown sugar and serve warm, optionally garnished with cinnamon.

Notes
