  • 2 cups water
  • 2 bags black tea
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 5 whole green cardamom pods
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1 cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • to taste sugar or sweetener

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Add the black tea bags, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, and ginger.
  3. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Strain the mixture into a bowl to remove spices and tea bags.
  5. Mix in the milk and sweeten to taste.
  6. Serve hot or over ice for an iced chai latte.
