For the hot chocolate

  • 8 oz 8 oz dark chocolate (226g), 60–70% cocoa, chopped or chips The star ingredient that gives the drink its rich and intense flavor.

Preparation
  1. Combine milk, heavy cream, powdered sugar, espresso powder, and chopped dark chocolate in a nonstick saucepan.
  2. Place the pan over medium-low heat.
  3. Stir continuously with a spatula to prevent burning and ensure even melting.
  4. Cook for 5–7 minutes until the chocolate has fully melted and the mixture begins to boil.
  5. Remove from heat and serve hot with whipped cream and a croissant, if desired.
Serving
  1. Pour the hot chocolate into small cups. Top with whipped cream, a dust of cocoa, or a few chocolate shavings. Serve with a warm croissant or with cookies like edible chocolate chip cookie dough for a sweet match.
Storage
  1. Let the hot chocolate cool to room temperature. Put it in a sealed container and keep it in the fridge for up to 2 days. Rewarm gently on the stove over low heat, stirring often. Do not boil after it cools.

Notes
