Ingredients
  

Tea Preparation
  • 4 cups water Use fresh water for the best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Kashmiri/Himalayan green tea Other types of green tea can be used as substitutes.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda Adjust depending on the brand of tea.
  • 1-2 pieces star anise Anise extract can be used as a substitute.
  • 2 pieces cardamom pods Crushed for better flavor.
  • 1 stick cinnamon Ground cinnamon can also be used.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Optional, to taste.
Milk and Sweeteners
  • 2 cups whole milk Almond or oat milk can be used for a vegan option.
  • to taste sugar or honey Adjust sweetness according to your preference.
  • optional chopped nuts Such as almonds, for garnishing.

Method
 

Tea Preparation
  1. Start by boiling the water in a pot. Once it reaches a rolling boil, add the green tea and baking soda.
  2. Stir the mixture well, then add the star anise, crushed cardamom, cinnamon stick, and salt if desired.
  3. Let the tea simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes. This brings out all the lovely flavors.
  4. Remove the pot from heat, and strain the tea into a separate vessel to remove the spices and tea leaves.
Adding Milk and Sweetening
  1. Add the milk to the strained tea and stir well. You can adjust the amount of milk based on how creamy you want your tea.
  2. Sweeten your tea with sugar or honey according to your taste. Mix well.
  3. For an extra touch, sprinkle chopped nuts on top before serving.
