  • 2 cups water Fresh cold water
  • 2 tablespoons loose black tea Good quality loose black tea for best flavor
  • 2 cups milk Can use different types of milk for variations
  • 2-3 tablespoons sugar Adjust to taste
Optional spices
  • to taste cardamom Can be adjusted based on preference
  • to taste ginger Fresh ginger can be added for spice
  • to taste cloves For additional flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Boil the water in a saucepan.
  2. Add the loose black tea and any optional spices.
  3. Allow the tea to simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add milk and sugar, and bring it to a gentle boil.
  5. Strain the chai into cups and serve hot with biscuits.

Notes
