- In a pot, bring the water to a boil.
- Add the sliced ginger, cardamom pods, cloves, and cinnamon stick to the boiling water. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes to release the spices’ flavors.
- Add the loose black tea or tea bags to the pot and let it boil for another 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in the milk and sugar, then bring the mixture back to a boil.
- Once it starts to boil, reduce the heat and let it simmer for a couple of minutes.
- Strain the chai into cups using a fine mesh strainer to remove the spices and tea leaves.
- Serve your fresh homemade chai hot!

Adjust the sugar to your taste for a sweeter or less sweet chai. Use fresh spices for the best flavor. Feel free to experiment with different spices like nutmeg or star anise for a unique twist. If you have any leftover chai, let it cool to room temperature and store it in the refrigerator for up to three days.
