Ingredients
  

For the chai mixture
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons loose black tea Alternatively, use 2 black tea bags.
  • 4 whole cardamom pods, lightly crushed Fresh spices yield a more flavorful cup.
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns
For serving
  • 2 cups whole milk Can substitute with almond or oat milk.
  • 2 tablespoons honey or sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon stick, ginger slices, and black peppercorns.
  2. Bring the spice mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the spices.
Brewing
  1. Add the black tea bags or loose tea to the saucepan and simmer for 3-4 minutes until the tea is strong and fragrant.
  2. Add the milk and sweetener to the saucepan and heat until steaming hot, but do not boil.
Serving
  1. Strain the chai latte through a fine mesh strainer into mugs, discarding the spices and tea.
  2. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Serve hot and enjoy immediately.

Notes
