- Start by boiling the water in a pot.
- Once the water is boiling, add the ginger, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, and cloves.
- Let the spices boil for about 5-7 minutes to release their flavors.
- Add the loose black tea or tea bags to the pot and let it simmer for another 3-5 minutes.
- Slowly pour in the milk and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
- If desired, add sugar at this point and stir well.
- Once everything is well mixed and heated, strain the chai into cups using a fine strainer.
