Ingredients
  

For the chai
  • 2 cups water Use filtered water for the best taste.
  • 2 cups milk or milk alternative Any type of milk can be used, including non-dairy options.
  • 2 tablespoons loose black tea or 2 tea bags Adjust amount based on strength preference.
  • 1 stick cinnamon Fresh cinnamon stick is preferable.
  • 4-6 pods cardamom Lightly crush pods to enhance flavor.
  • 2-4 pieces cloves Use whole cloves for the best aroma.
  • 1-2 slices fresh ginger Adjust ginger for spiciness.
  • 1-2 tablespoons sugar Optional, adjust to taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by boiling the water in a pot.
  2. Once the water is boiling, add the ginger, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, and cloves.
  3. Let the spices boil for about 5-7 minutes to release their flavors.
  4. Add the loose black tea or tea bags to the pot and let it simmer for another 3-5 minutes.
  5. Slowly pour in the milk and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  6. If desired, add sugar at this point and stir well.
  7. Once everything is well mixed and heated, strain the chai into cups using a fine strainer.
