- In a medium saucepan, heat the whole milk and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir gently until it’s warm but not boiling.
- Once the milk mixture is hot, add the dark chocolate. Stir continuously until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture is smooth.
- Add the granulated sugar and vanilla extract. Mix well until everything is combined. Taste the hot chocolate and add more sugar if you want it sweeter.
- Remove from the heat and serve hot in mugs.
