  • 1/3 cup melted butter Can use plant-based butter for vegan option.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten Can replace with flaxseed meal or applesauce for vegan option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute half with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans (optional) Add before baking for extra crunch.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional) For a richer flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
  4. Mix in the baking soda and a pinch of salt.
  5. Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
  6. Gradually mix in the flour. Do not overmix; just stir until incorporated.
  7. If desired, fold in the walnuts or pecans and chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into a greased 4x8 inch loaf pan.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
