  • 1/2 cup strongly brewed black tea (e.g., Assam or Darjeeling)
  • 1-2 tablespoons chai concentrate (or 1 tsp masala chai spice blend + 1 tsp sugar)
  • 1-2 tablespoons brown sugar substitute (or honey/maple syrup to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Whipped Topping
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla scented chai extract
  • 1 piece Optional garnish: cinnamon stick or a sprinkle of ground cinnamon For garnish

Preparation
  1. Brew your black tea or heat chai concentrate based on package directions.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the milk, brewed tea or concentrate, sweetener, and vanilla extract.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat while stirring until it is hot but not boiling.
  4. Use a milk frother or whisk to froth the chai latte mixture until it’s slightly foamy; this step is optional but adds a nice texture.
Whipping Cream
  1. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until medium peaks form.
Serving
  1. Pour the hot chai latte into a mug.
  2. Top it generously with whipped cream and garnish with a cinnamon stick or a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.
