Ingredients
  

For the chai base
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar Adjust sweetness to taste
  • 1 cinnamon stick cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • pinch ground cloves
  • pinch black pepper
  • 4 bags black tea bags
For the final touch
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy) Use whole milk or cream for richer flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Combine water, cinnamon stick, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and black pepper in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the spices.
  3. Add the black tea bags to the saucepan and steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on desired strength.
  4. Remove the tea bags and cinnamon stick.
  5. Stir in the milk and sugar until the sugar is dissolved.
  6. Heat gently without boiling.
  7. Pour into mugs and serve hot.

Notes
