Ingredients

Chai Base Ingredients
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tea bags black tea bags Or 2 tablespoons loose-leaf black tea
  • 1 stick cinnamon stick
  • 4 whole cardamom pods Lightly crushed
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 inch fresh ginger Sliced
  • 4-5 whole black peppercorns
  • 1 piece star anise Optional, for a deeper flavor
Milk and Sweetener Ingredients
  • 2 cups whole milk Or any milk of choice
  • 2-3 tablespoons sugar Or honey, or maple syrup, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract Optional, but lovely

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium pot, add 2 cups of water. Bring it to a boil and add the black tea bags, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, ginger, black peppercorns, and star anise if you're using it.
  2. Lower the heat and let the tea brew for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to mix well together.
  3. Once the tea is brewed, add 2 cups of milk. Heat it until it's hot but not boiling, stirring gently to combine.
  4. Add sugar, honey, or maple syrup to taste, along with the vanilla extract if you’d like. Stir well to ensure everything is mixed together.
Serving
  1. Pour your warm Chai Tea Latte into a mug. You can sprinkle some cinnamon on top for extra flavor and a nice presentation. Enjoy it while it's hot!

Notes

Adjust the spices to create your perfect taste. For a frothy latte, use a milk frother to foam the milk before adding it to your tea. Consider using oat or almond milk if you prefer a dairy-free option. If you have leftover Chai Tea Latte, let it cool and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, reheating when ready to drink.
