Pastry Base
  • 1 sheet puff pastry Ensure puff pastry is properly thawed
Filling
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded Use high-quality Gruyere for best taste
  • 1 cup asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces Can use frozen asparagus if thawed and drained
  • 2 pieces eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste pepper
  • as needed Balsamic glaze for drizzling Adds a nice tangy touch

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and place it in a tart pan.
  3. Prick the bottom of the pastry with a fork and bake for 10 minutes until slightly golden.
Filling Assembly
  1. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper.
  2. Spread the Gruyere cheese evenly over the baked pastry.
  3. Arrange the asparagus pieces on top of the cheese.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the asparagus and cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the egg mixture is set and the top is golden.
  2. Drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving.
