Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces russet potatoes (6 to 8 ounces per potato) Choose potatoes that are even in size for consistent cooking.
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil Oil helps to crisp the skin.
  • Coarse sea salt Adjust to your taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. Turn on your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Rinse the russet potatoes under cold water, using a vegetable scrubber to remove any dirt.
  3. Pat the potatoes dry with paper towels and place them on a cutting board.
  4. Use a fork to poke holes in each potato for ventilation.
  5. Coat the potatoes with neutral oil and sprinkle coarse sea salt evenly over the surface.
Cooking
  1. If your air fryer basket is small, you may need to work in batches. Cook the potatoes for 30 minutes.
  2. After 30 minutes, remove the potatoes and check for doneness by inserting a fork. If the fork does not go in smoothly, return the potatoes to the fryer to cook for another 5 minutes. Repeat this until they are fully cooked.
Serving
  1. Once the potatoes are done, take them out and place them on a cutting board.
  2. Carefully cut down the middle of each potato, being sure not to slice all the way through.
  3. Push the edges to open the potato slightly and release steam.
  4. Use a fork to fluff the inside of the potato, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy while still warm!

Air fryer baked potatoes can be served as a side dish with grilled meats or as a main dish with toppings like cheese, sour cream, and chives. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in the air fryer or microwave before serving. For best texture, choose russet potatoes and ensure to poke holes before cooking.
