Preparation
- Turn on your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Rinse the russet potatoes under cold water, using a vegetable scrubber to remove any dirt.
- Pat the potatoes dry with paper towels and place them on a cutting board.
- Use a fork to poke holes in each potato for ventilation.
- Coat the potatoes with neutral oil and sprinkle coarse sea salt evenly over the surface.
Cooking
- If your air fryer basket is small, you may need to work in batches. Cook the potatoes for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the potatoes and check for doneness by inserting a fork. If the fork does not go in smoothly, return the potatoes to the fryer to cook for another 5 minutes. Repeat this until they are fully cooked.
Serving
- Once the potatoes are done, take them out and place them on a cutting board.
- Carefully cut down the middle of each potato, being sure not to slice all the way through.
- Push the edges to open the potato slightly and release steam.
- Use a fork to fluff the inside of the potato, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy while still warm!

Notes
Air fryer baked potatoes can be served as a side dish with grilled meats or as a main dish with toppings like cheese, sour cream, and chives. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in the air fryer or microwave before serving. For best texture, choose russet potatoes and ensure to poke holes before cooking.
